🌙 What is Tithi?
Tithi is a Lunar Day and the first and most important element of the Panchangam. A Tithi is completed when the angular distance between the Moon and Sun increases by 12°.
At Amavasya (New Moon), the Sun and Moon are at the same celestial longitude (0° difference). The Moon then moves approximately 12° away from the Sun each day. When the difference completes 360°, the next Amavasya occurs. This cycle takes approximately 29.5 days.

Tithi = (Moon Longitude − Sun Longitude) ÷ 12°

Tithi Kshaya (Skipped Tithi)
When the Moon moves faster, a Tithi may begin and end between two consecutive sunrises. That Tithi is "skipped" for that calendar day. Example: If it's Saptami at sunrise one day and Navami at sunrise the next day, Ashtami has undergone Kshaya.
Tithi Vridhi (Extended Tithi)
When the Moon moves slower, the same Tithi may be present at two consecutive sunrises. That Tithi extends for two calendar days. Example: If Ekadashi is present at sunrise on both Monday and Tuesday, Ekadashi has undergone Vridhi.
⚠️ Why This Matters
